The Traditional RN program is not competitive. Once you complete the application criteria, your application can lead to being put into the Maricopa application pool. Issues with entering the application pool would be a result of unfulfilled requirements or not meeting the application criteria.
SCC does not offer the LPN program. Gateway CC, Glendale CC, and Mesa CC are the only colleges that offer the formal LPN program.
New incoming students should focus on the Prerequisite courses needed to apply. Begin with placement into those courses, using a valid HS GPA, transfer credit, or EdReady placement testing scores. Remember to balance the course load with studying and outside obligations. Nursing students are not required to take the FYE101/103 course.
There are no restrictions on working during the nursing program; however, you need to be prepared for the demands of the lectures, skills labs, and clinical experiences. The priority is to stay focused on your success in the program so you can advance into the next block.
SCC does not offer the RN to BSN at this time. However, you have several options to obtain your BSN.
- Apply to the CEP program - where you pursue your BSN with one of our partnering Universities while taking courses in the Maricopa RN program.
- Pursue the RN to BSN program through Gateway Community College. Apply to the program upon completion of the Associate’s degree in Nursing.
CEP (Concurrent Enrollment Program) is a competitive application to pursue your BSN (online) at the same time as the Maricopa RN program, starting from Block 1.
Mid-point is offered as an alternative starting point where you apply to pursue your BSN during the RN program, but you traditionally begin taking BSN courses(online) during Block 3 of the RN program.
