Scottsdale Community College (SCC) has been officially designated and re-certified as an Arizona Veteran Supportive Campus by the Arizona Department of Veterans Services (ADVS). The certification, granted in accordance with Arizona Revised Statute Section 41-609, recognizes SCC’s commitment to providing robust support, resources, and programs that contribute to the success of military-affiliated students, including veterans, on campus.
The Arizona Veteran Supportive Campus designation reflects SCC’s dedication to enhancing the educational experience of veterans by fostering an environment that understands and responds to their unique needs. This includes ensuring access to GI Bill® benefits, academic and personal support, and services that help veterans navigate the transition from military to academic life. SCC’s Veteran Services office provides expertise in benefit activation and compliance; connects students with tutoring, counseling, and career guidance; and offers social engagement opportunities.
“Supporting our nation’s veterans through high-quality services and programs is a priority for Scottsdale Community College,” said Dr. Eric Leshinskie, SCC president. “This re-certification validates the hard work of our faculty and staff and affirms our ongoing commitment to honoring the contributions of veterans by helping them succeed academically and professionally.”
As a certified Arizona Veteran Supportive Campus, SCC remains committed to maintaining best practices in veteran support, including continued collaboration with faculty and staff, outreach to military communities, and adaptation of resources based on veteran feedback. The designation is valid for two years, after which compliance with state requirements and reporting ensures continued certification.
