Scottsdale Community College (SCC), in partnership with the City of Scottsdale and WestWorld, marked a significant milestone today with the official groundbreaking of a permanent facility for SCC’s Equine Science program. The new site, located at WestWorld’s renowned event campus, will provide SCC students with direct access to one of the nation’s leading equine venues – ushering in a new era of opportunity for Arizona’s equine industry.

Approximately 49 students graduate from the Bachelor of Business Administration in Management, the largest first-year graduating class of any Maricopa Community Colleges bachelor’s program.

On May 14, alongside 48 of her classmates, Joy walked across the commencement stage and became part of the largest first-year graduating class of any bachelor’s program in the Maricopa County Community College District.

Simone Bedi is a 2026 New Century Transfer Pathway Scholar (top scorer in Arizona) and a member of the 2026 All-USA Academic Team. Alexia Neal is a 2026 Coca-Cola Academic Team Scholar and a member of the 2026 All-Arizona Academic Team.

Born in India, Simone spent five years living in Australia before her family moved to the United States at the end of 2022. By the time she enrolled at SCC in 2024, she had navigated multiple countries, education systems, and cultural transitions, each one requiring her to start over and find her footing.

Parnell Distinguished Faculty Award, a national honor recognizing outstanding community college educators.
