VETERAN'S DAY @ SCC

Scottsdale Community College invites the community to hear veterans’ stories, honor their contributions and connect with resources during its Veterans Day celebration on Tuesday, November 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Turquoise Room (SC-164).

Centered on the theme “Honoring Service. Sharing Stories. Strengthening Community,” the event will bring together veterans, students, employees and community members for recognition, conversation and connection. Everyone is welcome, and food and refreshments will be provided.

“Supporting veterans is a year-round commitment at Scottsdale Community College,” said SCC President Dr. Eric Leshinskie. “We value the experience, leadership, and perspectives veterans bring to our campus and community. For our student veterans, that commitment means helping them build on their military experience, connect with support, and pursue their education and career goals.”

The celebration begins at 11:30 a.m. with a welcome and the Veterans Voices Panel Discussion featuring an SCC student veteran, a faculty veteran and a community veteran sharing firsthand accounts of their service and experiences. At 12:15 p.m., attendees can explore veteran resources, view the Wall of Service, and connect over refreshments until 1 p.m.

The Wall of Service will recognize veterans connected to SCC or the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community through an installation featuring names, photographs, military branches and years of service. Members of the community are invited to contribute submissions for the wall here through November 10. The Wall of Service installation will be located in the breezeway/hallway of the Student Center between the Cafeteria and the Welcome Center. The Veteran Resources & Connections portion of the event will offer opportunities to learn about Veteran Services and other community resources.

SCC will observe Veterans Day one day early because the campus will be closed and no classes will be held on Wednesday, November 11, in recognition of the federal holiday.
