National Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 to October 15, recognizes and celebrates the histories, cultures, and contributions of individuals who came to the U.S. from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. This annual event started in 1968 as a week-long celebration; in 1988, Hispanic Heritage Week was expanded to an entire month.

Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is a designated Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), a recognition that highlights both the makeup of our student population and our ongoing commitment to higher education for all. Over the years, SCC has seen a steady increase in Hispanic and Latino student enrollment, a reflection of both demographic shifts and the college's efforts to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all students. SCC’s designation as an HSI is more than a milestone; it's a responsibility.
