Responding to changing demands in higher learning, Scottsdale Community College (SCC) has expanded the number of associate degree and certificate of completion programs that can be taken 100% online. The 37 remote-learning programs now available with the Fall 2020 semester include business, computer information systems, education, hospitality and culinary, justice studies, and more.

Building on SCC’s longstanding experience in providing robust online learning, courses are offered in three online delivery methods, providing greater flexibility to students.

Live Online:  Classes have live online sessions that meet on specific days and times. Attendance in these live online sessions is mandatory. Additional online work that is not synchronous may also be included during the duration the classes are offered and have set due dates for assignments. Students are required to have access to a computer or mobile device, and Internet access, unless otherwise specified.

On Your Time Online:  Classes do not meet at specific class times. Coursework must be completed according to deadlines. Students are required to have access to a computer or mobile device, and Internet access, unless otherwise specified.

Hybrid:  Part of the class will be held online without a set time to attend. The other part will occur in a face-to-face format on campus at the time listed in the class schedule. If on-campus instruction is not available, then in-person instruction will switch to online using a virtual platform.

SCC has longstanding experience in providing robust online learning for many years. The College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission to offer its associate degree and certificate programs 100 percent online, and its eLearning Steering Committee recently received a 2020 National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award for innovation in delivering online education.

To ensure student success in the distance-learning format, SCC is making many student support services available online as well, including tutoring, library/research, advising and options for testing. Students who are new to online learning can take advantage of extensive training and assistance.
