Fine & Performing Arts: 2019 Season Events

Scottsdale Community College (SCC) kicked off its 2019-2020 Fine and Performing Arts Season with the opening of the Experimental Chinese Painting Exhibition in the Art Building, the first of many art, dance, film, music and theatre events planned throughout the upcoming year. The activities are open to the public and, in most cases, are free, though advanced registration may be required.

The College helped celebrate this rich artistic tradition on campus by releasing the annual SCC Fine & Performing Arts Guide which features all related events and performances happening throughout the year. Download Guide.

Sample highlights for fall include: See How They Run theatrical performance (October), Day of the Dead art show (October), Duke Ellington jazz and choral concert (October), Koji XV Fall Iron Pour (November), First Date musical comedy (November), and the Images in Motion fall dance concert (December).

“The Scottsdale area is known for its enthusiastic support of the fine and performing arts, and Scottsdale Community College proudly presents many diverse and culturally engaging events this season for the community to enjoy,” says SCC Interim President Chris Haines. “Our students receive a richer educational experience when their creative talents are applied and shared through these public offerings.”

“Behind the scenes of SCC’s season of productions, exhibitions, and performances you will find exceptionally talented faculty and students,” said Dr. Lucas Messer, SCC’s Fine and Performing Arts Division Chair. “I’m proud to say our Fine Arts faculty are the most dedicated I’ve had the pleasure of working with. They are the primary reason for our students’ success and evolution as artists.”
