About the Competition
The C² Choreography Competition is a mechanism to connect AZ High School Dance, Scottsdale Community College (SCC) Dance, and the AZ Professional Dance communities. Winners will receive an award as well as perform at the SCC Images in Motion Fall dance concert on December 11 and 12, 2026.
Awards
One high school dance program will be chosen to:
- Have a $300 scholarship reserved at SCC for a designated graduate from their program (see details below)
- Perform the winning selection on the SCC Images in Motion dance concert
One professional dance company will be chosen to:
- Receive a $800 award (see details below)
- Perform the winning selection at the SCC Images in Motion Dance concert

Eligibility Guidelines
High School
- Only one submission per school.
- All entries must be between 3 and 7 minutes in length.
- Entries can be any style of dance.
- Works can be choreographed by students, faculty, or guest artists.
- All entries must be available to perform in the Fall SCC Images in Motion Concert and attend a technical rehearsal for the setting of light cues.
- Assumption of Risk and Talent Release forms must be completed and submitted for everyone involved in the performance before the Fall SCC Images in Motion Concert.
- The designated scholarship student will need to attend a formal scholarship audition at SCC and intend to pursue a Dance Major at SCC in order to be eligible to receive the award.
- Due to the nature of the competition, feedback for each entry cannot be provided.
Professional Company
- Only one submission per company/choreographer.
- All entries must be between 3 and 10 minutes in length.
- Entries can be any style of dance.
- All entries must be available to perform in the Fall SCC Images in Motion and attend a technical rehearsal for the setting of light cues.
- Assumption of Risk and Talent Release forms must be completed and submitted for everyone involved in the performance before the Fall SCC Images in Motion Concert.
- Winners must register as a vendor with MCCCD to receive their award.
- Due to the nature of the competition, feedback for each entry cannot be provided.
