Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is proud to announce the launch of its Yoga Instruction: Level II Certificate of Completion – a comprehensive, 500-hour advanced training program designed for aspiring yoga instructors looking to deepen their practice and expand their teaching skills.
The new Level II program builds on the success of the college’s initial Yoga Instruction: Level I certificate, which has helped yogis across the Valley launch fulfilling, movement-based careers. The program is open to all students, whether or not they have completed the previous certificate. Graduates will be eligible for the 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher certification through Yoga Alliance, widely considered the gold standard in the yoga industry. Many yoga students at SCC are healthcare professionals looking to incorporate yogic principles into their practice.
“The 500-hour advanced certification at Scottsdale Community College offers a comprehensive path for students seeking to refine their teaching and deepen their understanding of the yoga tradition,” says Michele Cook, Yoga Faculty at SCC. “Rooted in precision and alignment principles of Hatha yoga, this Level II program provides the depth, structure, and academic integrity necessary for students to evolve both personally and professionally. Whether continuing from a 200-hour foundation or re-engaging with practice at a higher level, participants will gain the confidence, experience, and credibility to thrive in today’s wellness landscape.”
Students in the program will explore the theory, philosophy, and teaching methods behind intermediate asana practice, while gaining mentored experience to refine their unique voice and teaching style. The curriculum also includes advanced biomechanics, safe sequencing strategies, and a deeper dive into yoga’s historical and cultural roots.
This 28-credit program can be completed in three semesters, with students expected to enroll in a yoga physical practice course each term. The career outlook is promising for graduates, with employment opportunities at yoga studios, wellness retreats, fitness centers, or as independent instructors building their own brand and clientele.
Cohorts begin in the Fall 2025 semester. Visit the Yoga Instruction program page for more details.
