Find the Right Class Format for You
Everyone's life is different. Scottsdale Community College offers a variety of class formats to fit your schedule and learning style. We have options designed to meet your needs, whether you prefer in-person interaction, online flexibility, or a combination of both. Explore the details below to find the format that works best for you!

In-Person
The class meets regularly in person and on campus or at an off-campus location according to the times and dates in the class schedule. This format is ideal for students who value face-to-face interaction with their instructors and classmates and the ability to access on-campus resources.

Online
All coursework is available online, allowing you to complete assignments on your own schedule within set start and end dates—though individual assignments may have specific deadlines. Online classes may require in-person proctored assessments.

Live Online
In this format, the instructor lectures live online through a web conferencing system. It features virtual class meetings with set dates and times. Like Online, in some cases, Live Online classes may have required in-person proctored assessments at the discretion of the instructor.

Hybrid In-Person
(Formerly known as Hybrid)
This format blends online learning with in-person class meetings on campus or at an off-campus location according to the times and dates in the class schedule. The in-person sessions occur at specific times and dates listed in the class schedule. This mode combines the benefits of online flexibility with an on-campus experience.

Hybrid Live Online
(Formerly known as Hybrid Virtual)
This format combines online coursework with live online class meetings. The live online sessions occur on set dates and times, providing structure while still offering flexibility.
How much time are you spending each week?
We’re trying to help you get a sense of your workload. Enter how many hours each week you spend on personal activities and courses. A week consists of seven days and has a total of 168 hours. A semester is 16 weeks. Course time includes class, study, and homework. Fill out each section with an estimated amount of time you would spend on each activity in one week, rounding to the closest hour. As you fill out each section, the chart will auto-populate, showing the amount of hours used and hours left in each week. You may leave some sections at zero. When you add the number of course credits, pay attention to the length of the course (1st 8 weeks, 2nd 8 weeks, 14 weeks, 15 weeks, or 16 weeks) as the time required will be different.
Activity Categories
To make it easier to see how much time you spend on school, work, and personal time, the pie chart displays your activities grouped into five categories and colors. Each wedge in the pie chart represents the percentage of weekly time you spend on a specific activity.

Daily Life: This includes your sleep time, personal care, food consumption, relaxation, and exercise activities.
Social Life: This is the time you spend with family and friends or engaging in hobbies and entertainment.
Responsibilities: This is the time you spend on your work, household, and caregiving responsibilities.
Community: This is the time you spend volunteering in the community.
