Honors Program

Main Content

The Scottsdale Community College Honors Program fosters critical thinking and academic excellence among students who are motivated to pursue academic enrichment. The program offers specially designated Honors classes, the Presidents' Honors Scholarship Mentor Program, opportunities for Honors students to work with faculty during completion of Honors contracts and various other Honors events throughout the year.

The Honors Program includes two different types of Honors students.

Presidents' Honors students are recent high school graduates who graduated within 6 months from a Maricopa County high school with a minimum unweighted cumulative 3.25 GPA. Please complete the Presidents' Honors Scholarship application below.

Honors Achievement Award students have completed at least 12 credits at any Maricopa County Community College campus with a minimum cumulative 3.25 GPA. Please complete the Honors Achievement Award Scholarship application below.

Students in good standing in the Honors Program receive substantial scholarships or tuition waivers and have the opportunity to apply for several additional Honors-Only Maricopa District scholarships.

It is the hope of the Honors Directors and the Honors Advisory Committee that the academic year will be one of exploration, learning, and community for all members of the Honors Program.

Honors Orientation

All new Honors Students must attend a mandatory Honors Orientation—this is in addition to the New Student Orientation. Honors Orientations will be held either online or in person. Please see the SCC Honors Program Canvas Course for dates and times of the Honors Orientations.

Important Notes:

  • A student must be admitted to the Honors Program BEFORE attending an Honors Orientation.
  • A student admitted to the Honors Program will receive an e-mail with instructions in relation to the Honors orientation, registering for an Honors course and other important Honors Program information.

Please Note: Honors Orientation is not the New Student Orientation. New Honors Students must attend one Honors Orientation session.
