First-Time Dual Enrollment Students

New Dual Enrollment students can follow instructions below or watch the Quick Tips for New Students videos. Before you begin make sure you gather the following:

  • Acceptable forms of Identification (Example: AZ Driver License or State Identification, High School ID and Birth Certificate)
  • Review the school course offerings and prerequisites and take note of the following:
    • Term, Course, Class #, Class Hour, Instructor, Credits (Example: Fall 2022, ENG 101, 12345, 1st hour, Jones, 3)
    • Documentation or Assessment required for course placement (Example: High School Transcripts, SAT/ACT Scores, EdReady Placement Test).

Did you know that students can now register for fall and spring classes beginning August 1, 2022? You do not have to wait for fall semester to end before you register for your spring classes.

Step 1 – Apply for Admission

The admissions application must be completed by September 12, 2022.

  1. Create a student account.
  2. Select Scottsdale Community College.
  3. When you finish your application, you will receive:

Step 2 – Dual Enrollment Next Steps Form

The Dual Enrollment Next Steps Form must be completed by September 12, 2022.

Select Scottsdale Community College as your primary college.

Determine College Readiness and Course Placement Students must meet course prerequisites, and provide proof or documentation, or you will not be able to self-register for classes.

  • 11th - 12th GradeHigh school transcripts with an unweighted GPA ≥ 2.6
  • 10th Grade ACT, SAT, or EdReady Placement Test (EdReady College Reading placement test is required to prove college readiness).
  • 9th Grade – EdReady Placement Test (EdReady College Reading placement test is required to prove college readiness).

Step 3 – Self-Register for Classes

Self-registration is due by September 18, 2022.

You'll receive an email to your Maricopa email address on how to add classes once your information has been verified. Please allow 5-7 business days (Monday-Friday) to verify the Dual Enrollment Next Steps Form.

  1. Log in to your Student Center using your (Example: and your password.
  2. Click the Manage Classes tile.
  3. Select Class Search and Enroll on the left-hand side.
    • Select Scottsdale Community College and the term you want to register for classes.
  4. Review your high school course offerings.
    • Paste or type the five-digit Class Number for the class you want to add into the Search For Classes field. Then use the enter key or click the arrow button to the right.
  5. Verify the class is the one you want. Click the blue hyperlink to see details, for example, time and location, prerequisites, and more. If everything looks correct, click anywhere on the class row or the arrow on the far right.
  6. The Class Selected box will appear. Click the Action drop-down menu. Choose either Enroll or Add to Shopping Cart (if class registration for the term has not begun yet), and click Submit.
  7. Repeat the process to add additional classes.

Step 4 – Pay Tuition and Fees

Tuition is due by October 2, 2022.

To pay Online:

  1. You can pay tuition, or sign up for the payment plan in your Student Center.
  2. Click the Financial Account tile.
  3. Click Select View Payment Options.

Tuition assistance is available from the Maricopa Tuition Assistance Grant for those who qualify. You can apply for the Dual Enrollment Grant to help with tuition costs. Application deadline is September 9, 2022.
