Yoga Therapy

The Yoga Therapy program is designed for students who have an interest of working in the field. Yoga is an ancient philosophical tradition and part of the mainstream in physical fitness and wellness with wellness practices that can be labeled therapeutic. Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate this knowledge by participating in an internship in an aspect of yoga therapy.

  • Teach others how to move safely and correctly
  • Able to help ways to help people
  • Awareness of others’ reactions and understanding
  • Speak to others to convey information effectively
  • Give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Enter the workforce

Representative job titles:

  • Yoga Instructor ($18 - $40 per hour)

Employment of fitness trainers and instructors is projected to grow 10 percent from 2016 to 2026, faster than the average for all occupations. As businesses, government, and insurance organizations continue to recognize the benefits of health and fitness programs for their employees, incentives to join gyms or other types of health clubs are expected to increase the need for fitness trainers and instructors.
