College Maps & Directions
Scottsdale Community College opened in 1969 and moved to our present location in the fall of 1970. It is the only public community college located on tribal land. In fact, SCC takes great pride in its partnership with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
Today’s student body mirrors the area’s diversity and rapid population growth. SCC serves about 10,000 credit-seeking students each semester, with another 3,000 taking non-credit courses.
Our mascot - Artie the Artichoke - represents an important part of the school’s history. Born during a period of student unrest in the early 1970s, Artie was chosen to express a difference of opinion concerning budget priorities. Originally intended to be a source of embarrassment, Artie has been embraced by students, athletes, staff, and the community as a beloved character.
In the last decade, SCC’s 160-acre physical environs have embraced the biodiversity found in the Sonoran Desert, creating a serene campus experience geared to helping students succeed. View the SCC Campus Map or print the SCC Campus Directory.
