Certificate of Completion


 

 
Description: The Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Yoga Instruction prepares students to become qualified yoga instructors. 
The program provides students with a foundation in the theory, tradition and practice of yoga, knowledge of anatomy and physiology 
applied to yoga instruction, instructional methodology in the art and science of teaching yoga asanas, and practice teaching experience. 

 

 

 

Program Notes:

Students must earn a grade of C or better for all courses required within the program.

Students must enroll in a Physical Activities: Yoga course each semester.

2.         Demonstrate an intermediate level of proficiency in yoga. (PED101YL, PED102YL, PED201YL, PED202YL)

3.         Identify and define the major terms and concepts related to the philosophy and practice of yoga. (PED150, PED155).

4.         Identify and describe the cultural/historical roots and the spiritual traditions of yoga philosophy and practice. (PED150, PED155)

5.         Explain the relevance and benefits of yoga to modern day life and describe major issues and trends related to its practice. (PED150, PED155)

6.         Describe the physical and mental health benefits that may be associated with yoga. (PED150, PED155)

7.         Utilize a range of techniques to assess the skill levels of yoga students. (PED270, PED271, PED272, PED274)

8.         Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise lesson plans and instructional approaches for teaching yoga based on student needs. (PED270, PED271, PED272, PED274)

9.         Demonstrate effective methods for teaching principles of alignment of yoga asanas. (PED270, PED271, PED272, PED274)

10.        Recognize common misalignments of yoga asanas and demonstrate techniques used to correct them. (PED270, PED271, PED272, PED274)

11.        Demonstrate effective teaching methods and styles for teaching more advanced yoga asanas. (PED272, PED274)
