SCC Web Page Guidelines |
| Scottsdale Community College, through the Instructional Technology Department, will provide web space for Faculty, Staff and Student Clubs/Organizations . The Web space is provided for College related activity only. SCC has provided the following guidelines that all individuals and organizations must follow in order to have their web pages published on an SCC web server. All Web account user are presumed to have read and understood the website guidelines as well the SCC Computer usage policy, the MCCD Information Technology Policies and Standards and the Use of Copyrighted Material in Academia |
| 1. Attaining web accounts and space - |
|
Faculty and staff must receive authorization from their Department Chair/Director in order to establish a Web account or space. Student clubs/organizations must receive authorization from the Student Activities office. The Department Chair/Director will make the request to the SCC webmaster. |
| 2. Commercial Activity is Prohibited - |
|
No commercial activity or promotion of non-campus groups or activities is allowed on any page on the SCC Web site. The author of a web site may not use the site to advertise personal services, whether or not for financial gain, nor any commercial purpose. |
| 3. Copyright Compliance - |
|
All material in web pages shall be in full compliance with the law and the Student Handbook. Materials owned by others may not be displayed on a web page without the expressed written permission of the owner. Copyrighted Material in Academia |
| 4. Pictures, Video - |
|
Recognizable pictures or videos of people may not be used on a web page without the written permission of the people in the picture or video. |
| 5. Official Scottsdale Community College Web Pages - |
|
Official Web pages represent the College and MCCCD and may display the College logos and colors Recognized entities of SCC, including but not limited to administrative offices, academic programs, support areas, individual staff or faculty, and student organizations, may create Web pages which serve to carry out official College business. |
| 6. Use of Computing Facilities - |
|
Use of Scottsdale Community College computing facilities and technology is a privilege, not a right, which may be suspended without notice. All users of the college computer system shall abide by policies for the use of computing facilities as described in the SCC Computer Usage Policy and the Maricopa Computing Resource Standards. Information on the SCC web shall comply with federal and state laws and all Scottsdale Community College and Maricopa Community Colleges policies and regulations. |
| 7. Suggested Style Guidelines for Web Pages - |

In general, for student clubs/organizations, all web page design should be agreed upon by members or the individual or individuals assigned by the club to create the web pages. However the web pages should be designed with consideration of the following:
- that they will reflect upon the reputation of SCC;
- that many different browsers will be viewing the page;
- that logos and school colors be considered for use that people using slower connections and less powerful computers will access the page;
- that web space is limited and that images are created with the most efficient size possible.

| 8. Required Information - |
|
Required for Faculty, Staff and Student websites - As individual pages are often accessed directly the following information is required: Name of the person authoring and maintaining the web page with a link to their email address; the date of latest revision; a link to the disclaimer (http://www.sc.maricopa.edu/disclaimer.html); a mention of SCC and a link to the SCC homepage as well as a link to the respective department page.
Required for Departmental website - Same as Faculty, Staff and Student websites.
Required for Clubs/Organization websites - must have a link SCC Club home page. Clubs must also list the Club Advisor. There should also be a statement indicating that the club constitution is on file at the Student Activities office.

| 9. Content Responsibility - |
|
Content responsibility belongs to the person listed as the author. The club advisor is responsible for all content on club web pages. |
| 10. Web Page Uploads - |
|
Faculty, Staff or Club advisors may submit web pages to the SCC webmaster, or may be given a Web account used to maintain Web pages. Computer accounts may be used only by the person assigned the account Account sharing is prohibited per the SCC Computer Usage Policy. See also the MCCD Computing Resource Standards |
| 11. Revision Dates - |
|
Content responsible persons should review Web pages periodically for date related information. Web pages with revision dates older than one year with outdated information may be removed by the SCC webmaster. |
