SCC’s nationally-recognized Theatre Arts program inspires a new community of Theatre students through a combination of classroom study and production applications that emphasize the collaborative nature of Theatre Arts.

What you can expect
SCC’s Theatre Arts program is recognized by national theatre educators and professionals for the outstanding achievements of its students and faculty.
The program combines classroom study with opportunities for public performances each semester, and summer professional training through the Scottsdale Conservatory Theatre.
The SCC Theatre Arts program prepares students to achieve their personal and professional goals in a number of ways. Students may:
- Prepare for professional careers in theatre and related entertainment fields
- Fulfill degree requirements for the Associate of Arts (A.A.) and Associate of Arts, Fine Arts (A.A.F.A.) degrees
- Pursue humanities and fine arts electives for general studies
- Explore personal creativity
- Cultivate critical skills as an audience member
The Theatre Arts program at SCC offers students a friendly atmosphere, close contact with faculty and staff, small classes with individual attention, immediate opportunities for production participation, and a student club!
What are you looking for?
The Theatre Arts program integrates the study of theatre history, dramatic literature, theory, and aesthetic concepts with the development of practical skills in acting, dire cting, design, and theatre technology.
Students receive unparalleled experience and education in Theatre arts through a combination of coursework, performance, and production – culminating in the Associate of Arts, Fine Arts degree in Theatre (A.A.F.A).
A university degree
The A.A.F.A. transfer degree combines the required lower-division courses for students transferring to an Arizona university with courses for a Theatre Arts major.
An emphasis in Acting or Technical Production
Theatre Performance, Production, Theatre History and Humanities courses are the foundation of Theatre Arts studies. These courses allow Theatre Arts majors and theatre enthusiasts to pursue a variety of interests.
What's new in Theatre Arts?
Stage Combat class is new for the fall 2009 semester! THP 130 (section 55245) runs from 9/4 - 12/18 and will meet on Fridays from 1:05pm - 3:45pm. Instructor Andrea Robertson will cover Rapier/Dagger and small swords. Testing with Dueling Arts International is available through this class! Stage Combat is the acting of a fight on stage where it is safe for the performers but looks dangerous for the characters.
Roberts is the CEO of Fight Call, LLC, Associate Instructor for Dueling Arts International, and an Advanced Actor Combatant with SAFD.
