NET

The NET (Nursing Entrance Test):  is a computer-based test consisting of seven sections, administered in the following order:

o       Comprehensive Math

o       Reading Rate

o       Reading Comprehension

o       Social Decisions

o       Stressful Situations

o       Learning styles

o       Test Taking Skills. 

 

All seven parts must be completed in order to receive scores and be considered for admission into the Nursing Program.  However, only the math and reading comprehension scores will be used to calculate application eligibility.  Effective July 1, 2007, a reading score of 60% or higher and a math score of 50% or higher must be achieved for admission.

 

Testing Information & Requirements: The cost of the NET is $25.00.  Calculators are not allowed; pencils and scratch paper will be provided.  Applicants must have a Student Information Form on file at Scottsdale Community College and plan to apply to one of the MCCCD Nursing Programs.  NET results are valid for 2 years and must be valid at the time of application to the Nursing Program.  Applicants with valid, passing test scores are not eligible for additional testing.  Photo identification is required for all testing services.

 

Preparation:  NET study guides are on reserve at the SCC Library and available for purchase at either the SCC Bookstore or Educational Resources, Inc.  In addition, the MCCCD Nursing program offers a NET Preparation Workbook to assist in preparing for the reading portion of the NET, and Paradise Valley Community College has created a brief tutorial, Navigating the NET, to familiarize students with the test format.  Applicants are strongly encouraged to review study materials prior to testing.

 

Process:  NET request forms are available at the Advisement Center and the Testing Center.  Applicants will take the completed the request form and $25.00 to the Cashiers office and return to the Testing Center with the receipt and photo identification.  

The NET may take up to 2 hours to complete.  Allow sufficient time to take the exam.  The exam must be completed in one sitting.  NET Testing is available on a walk-in basis, first come, first served.  Seating is limited:

Monday ? Thursday    9:15 am - 4:00 pm

Friday                          8:15 am - 2:00 pm   (closed Fridays June - mid August)

 

NET testing is not available during the week before classes begin, the first week of classes or during finals week.

 

The results of the NET will be printed upon completion of the exam and applicants will receive a copy of their scores before leaving the Testing Center.  A printed copy of the exam results must be included when submitting the MCCD Nursing Program application.  Applicants should retain a copy of the exam results.

 

Retesting & Eligibility:  The NET scores and test date will be entered on the student information system (SIS).  In the event that the applicant does not achieve the required scores, retesting is available.  The entire NET must be taken on each retest at a cost of $25.00.  The NET may be taken once every 60 days, and no more than 3 times per year at any MCCCD college.  Test results for applicants who have not met test eligibility requirements may be voided.
