Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification Admission Requirements
The requirements for admission into the STEP post-baccalaureate teacher certification program are as follows:
- An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university, or a comparable degree from a recognized institution outside of the United States.
- Official transcripts verifying all course work earned toward the bachelor?s degree and any graduate course work completed.
- A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 as shown on the degree posted undergraduate transcript.
- For non-native speakers of English, a score of 550 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
- Successful completion of the ASSET or COMPASS placement exam http://www.scottsdalecc.edu/testingcenter/placement_tests.html in the areas of English Language Usage, Reading and Mathematics.
- Two letters of recommendation.
- Completed application for admittance into the program.
- Interview

It is the student?s responsibility to submit the following forms and documents in one complete packet
- Signed Application for Admission (Word / PDF) into the STEP Program
- Official transcript from the institution that awarded bachelor?s degree
- Two current letters of recommendation
- ASSET/COMPASS scores in writing, reading and mathematics
- Resume

Upon acceptance to the program, students will be required to obtain a Substitute Teaching Certificate from the Arizona State Department of Education.
