Community Service & Volunteer Opportunities

"There is nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer."

Student Life & Leadership and Student Leadership Forum regularly plan organized opportunities for members of the SCC campus to give back to our surrounding community. Such projects include Make A Difference Day each fall, College to the Community in mid-winter for faculty and staff, and Into the Streets in Spring. There is also the Volunteer! Fair each fall, where local agencies visit campus to let us know where we can help out-and, projects like The Clothesline Across Campus, where everyone has an opportunity to clean out their closets and drawers just before the holiday season to donate clothing to those in need. In addition, we have a Volunteer Calendar published two times a year and available to you by an office visit.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR SPRING 2008

Artie Loves Animals Service Project and Collection Drive - Please join SLF on Friday, February 8, 2008 at 9 AM at AZ Animal Welfare League in the East Valley.  We will be cleaning out animal cages and handling these little critters.  If you would like to donate food and pet care items to benefit the agency, please stop by SC 185 before February 8 and we will be more than happy to deliver these items.  For more information about AZ Animal Welfare League, please visit their website at:  http://www.aawl.org/ .

SLF at Scottsdale Village Square - Please join SLF on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at 2 PM as we deliver over 150 valentines to residents at a local senior living community.  You can also join us from 11 AM to 1 PM as we create and design cards for the residents at SLF's annual Valentine Workshop held in the SC Cafeteria. 

MCCCD Into the Streets with Homebase Youth Services - Please join SLF on Friday, March 21, 2008 from 12 - 4 PM as we go "Into the Streets" with Homebase Youth Services which provides aid to homeless and at-risk youth in Arizona.  For more information about Homebase Youth Services, please visit their website at:  http://www.hbys.org/ .
