The goal of the SCC Emerging Leaders program is to provide an opportunity for participants to identify, develop and practice leadership skills in order to make positive social change.
See ~ Hear ~ Feel ~ Do
Through the SCC Emerging Leaders Program we invite you to experience leadership by doing. Experiential learning is based on action and reflection. You will participate in various hands-on team building activities, working together to find success. After each experience, we'll take time to reflect on the lessons learned from the activity and its relevance to the 7 Values of Leadership for Social Change.
Through participation in this experience, you will discover the passion in your life that can lead to courageous acts of leadership and positive social change.
The Emerging Leaders class was a wonderful experience because it allowed me to see other leaders, as well as a variety of leadership skills and methods. I felt like our group bonded well due to the close proximity of class times and the group activities that were held outside of the classroom. Having another SCC volunteer opportunity was fabulous, and I think it opened the door to future volunteerism for some of the younger students. Taking part in the DISC Personality Test was a valuable learning experience. In my job at the Fitness Center and in my personal life, I've been using the information I learned from the DISC. Becky, Jorge, Neil, Tonya and Eric provided all of us with a great learning atmosphere! ~Marybeth Ayres, 2005 Emerging Leaders Graduate
I cannot think of another program that offers the kind of in-depth and high quality introduction to community services, community needs and community leaders like those through the Emerging Leaders Program at Scottsdale Community College. It was a uniquely valuable experience that was well worth the commitment of time and resources. ~Jonathan Arias, 2005 Emerging Leaders Graduate
