Web Conferencing at SCC with Elluminate
This calendar year, MCCD is piloting an exciting web conferencing tool called Elluminate. You can incorporate voice, slide show, chat, web tour, whiteboard -- even video -- in an Elluminate session. And you can lead or attend a session from anywhere there's an Internet connection.
Elluminate is being used by faculty all over the district to conduct synchronous (same-time) sessions with students using a simple Web-based connection. Students receive an invitation to join a session, via and email message. The email contains a hyperlink to join. The only software requirement is Java installed in their browser -- a free plug-in through this link . Computer speakers are needed to hear during the session; an inexpensive microphone can be used to talk to others.
