Paid Educational Leave is a benefit for which Professional Staff employees may apply. Its purpose is to provide employees an opportunity for career and professional growth through the completion of a Bachelor, Master, or Doctoral degree while being paid 100% of salary.
In order to apply, an employee must be a regular full-time employee with a minimum of six (6) years or 12,500 hours of consecutive service as a regular Governing Board approved employee of the district (no OSO, OYO or specially funded time included). The leave may be granted for up to but not more than one year. The employee will need to provide evidence that sufficient college credits can be completed during the leave to complete the degree while on leave. Employees granted leave will be required to sign a contract and promissory note with the District agreeing to return and work twice the amount of leave time granted.
