FRENCH 201 Intermediate French, 4 credit hours, LC 361
Session 1718

REQUIRED TEXT:  Manuel de Français, French 201, prepared by instructor for this course.  Additional instructor prepared work-sheets will be distributed during each class session to students in attendance.  These work-sheets should be kept in a binder and brought to all class sessions, as the Manuel de Français.  Although not required, a student should find useful, for study at home, a French/English dictionary.

Participation in class and effort made to speak French are determining elements of final grade.

Attendance is essential to achieve course objectives.  After four absences, and/or chronic tardiness, grade will be lowered or student may be withdrawn from the course.  Please check Scottsdale Community College catalog, page 15.

Absence is not an acceptable excuse for assignments being unprepared.  It is recommended that students exchange phone numbers to keep informed of current assignments.

Tests will be given after completing each chapter in the text.  There are
no make-up exams given in the Foreign Language Department.

Cultural exposés are to be presented orally in class at various dates assigned at the beginning of the semester.

There will be a comprehensive final exam given at the scheduled time during final exam week:

 Monday, May 8, 11:30am-1:20pm

As lessons are presented in French, concentration is important.  This method requires self discipline and the will to speak French, not English,
in class.  The lack of such self discipline may lead to dismissal, as may any unacceptable behavior or disruption of the learning atmosphere.
