Womens Track Excels

SCC Womens Track Team Excels On and Off the Field for 2008 Season!

 

Scottsdale, AZ (July 17, 2008) – The SCC Womens Track and Field Team had a fantastic 2008 season.  With an average GPA of 3.16, the Lady ArtWomens trackichokes earned the title of NJCAA All American Academic Team!

 

Individually, Kimberly gunning was named an Academic All American. Additionally, both Gunning and Emily Gallagher were recognized for their academic accomplishments at the 2008 Excellence Under the Stars event.

 

These Lady Artichokes also had tremendous success on the track.  Indoor Track advanced to the NJCAA Championships in Lubbock, Texas where Kimberly Gunning, Amanda Holly, Emily Gallagher, and Sabrina Nelson placed 8th in the Distance Medley Relay. Outdoor Track placed 10th in the 4X4 and Janelle Richardson finished 8th in the pole vault.

In other news, student athlete orientation for the women’s athletic department will be held in the Turquoise Room on August 16th from 1:30 - 3:30PM.  Enjoy this kick off to the 2008-2009 academic school year with the opportunity to mingle with athletic staff members and student athletes, gain insight and information on athletic programs, and honor student athletes and staff for past accomplishments.  Please RSVP by August 8th.
