SCC Women’s Tennis Team Earn High Academic and Athletic Honors for 2008 Season
Scottsdale, AZ (July 15, 2008) – The SCC Women’s Tennis Team had a tremendous 2008 season, excelling both on and off the court. After finishing as the Region I Runner-up team, the Lady Artichokes were named NJCAA All American Academic Team by earning a 3.41 GPA.

Several players were also honored for their individual successes. Sophomore Ilva Klempnere earned All Conference 2nd Team, All Region 1st Team, and was named a Distinguished Academic All American.
Joining Klempnere on the All Conference 2nd Team and All Region 1st Team was sophomore Brianna Jauregui. Players Sadie Such and Rachel Hinze were also named to the All Conference 2nd Team.
Klempnere and Crystal Lemon were honored for their Academic Excellence as Student Athletes at SCC’s 2008 Excellence Under the Stars event held in May. After graduating several outstanding players, Coach Kilen and his team look forward to continuing their success in the upcoming season.

In other news, student athlete orientation for the women’s athletic department will be held in the Turquoise Room on August 16th from 1:30 - 3:30PM. Enjoy this kick off to the 2008-2009 academic school year with the opportunity to mingle with athletic staff members and student athletes, gain insight and information on athletic programs, and honor student athletes and staff for past accomplishments. Please RSVP by August 8th.
