Scottsdale Community College Presents: Vigorous Attempts
~ Dancers will storm the stage with heart stopping energy, stamina, and strength!

Scottsdale, AZ (April 8, 2008) -- Scottsdale Community College is proud to present Vigorous Attempts -- a dance concert for audiences of all ages. Vigorous Attempts is hosted by the Scottsdale Community College Dance Department at the SCC Performing Arts Center April 25 and 26, 2008 at 8:00 p.m.
Vigorous Attempts is a collaborative dance event by the three resident companies from the Scottsdale Community College Dance Program: Instinct Dancecorps, SCC Moving Company, and S.A.J.E. Instinct Dancecorps will be premiering work by nationally acclaimed guest choreographer Alex Ketley as well as works by SCC Dance Faculty Carley Conder, Teal Darkenwald, and Angela Rosenkrans. The SCC Moving Company will be performing works by Angela Rosenkrans, Karryn Allen, and Aaron McGloin. S.A.J.E. will be presenting pieces by Director Jennifer McKusick and SCC dance student Sarah Sharits.
In the tradition of SCC Dance productions, Vigorous Attempts follows suit as an original composition of artistry, athleticism, stamina, and strength. Nationally acclaimed guest choreographer, Alex Ketley is Artistic Director and Co-founder of The Foundry, a contemporary dance company based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Foundry was founded in 1998 by choreographers Alex Ketley and Christian Burns. The company's experimental work is considered at the forefront of movement. Dance Magazine 2003 stated; "The Foundry is onto something that feels both real and true."

The Dance Program at Scottsdale Community College is one of the finest dance programs in the Southwest, offering a range of classes from recreational dance for non-majors and community members to serious training for those who are pursuing a career in the dance field. The SCC Dance Program supports three dance companies that require rigorous training and rehearsal commitments. The companies focus on unique aspects of dance, and create unparalleled opportunities for students. Each year the companies are invited to participate in the American College Dance Festival, and they perform several times throughout the season. SCC Dance has been the Gala winner at the Northwest Regional American College Dance Festival for the last four years, Innovators of the Year for Multimedia productions, and recipient of fourteen Vibrant Arts Grants.
