Scottsdale Community College Art Show Features Work of 40 Artists
Scottsdale, AZ (January 27, 2009) – Scottsdale Community College’s Continuing Education Program hosted its 4th Annual Noncredit Art Show and Reception on January 11. Over 40 artists exhibited artwork produced in their art classes throughou t the year. In all, 75 pieces were on display, including acrylics, oils, watercolor, charcoal, pencil, color pencil, mixed media, and stained glass.
“It is exciting to see what the students achieve in a relatively short time in class and the progress they show from one semester to the next,” said Zhara Dean, Director of SCC’s Continuing Education Program.
Dean explained that the exhibit was developed as a means for students to show their work, and occasionally sell a piece.
“It has been a strong incentive for the artists to continue their study and for others to take classes,” she said. “The instructors love to demonstrate what beautiful work their students produce.”
Over 100 people attended the exhibit and reception. Students, instructors, and art lovers alike strolled through SCC’s Desert Oasis Dining Room admiring the art. Guests enjoyed appetizers and beverages prepared by students from SCC’s Culinary Arts program, and Jazz trio, Triple B, provided musical entertainment for the reception.
