Maricopa Colleges Foundation Awards Scholarships to Two SCC Employees
Scottsdale, AZ (May 6, 2008) – The Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation will award five $1,000 scholarships in the name of five employees as part of the Foundation's Employee Recognition Program.
The foundation sponsors an annual program to recognize Maricopa Community Colleges employees who have made outstanding contributions to advance the mission of the District. Each year five $1,000 awards are given to an individual or team of employees, which in turn is awarded in the recipient's name as a scholarship to a Maricopa Community College student.
The 2008 recipients are Dee Duggan and Elaine Moe of Scottsdale Community College, Dee Dee Denslow of Glendale Community College North, Sally Hervey of Glendale Community College, and Chris Schnick of Chandler-Gilbert Community College.
Duggan has been with SCC for nearly 24 years, first as coordinator of Disability Resources, and later as Diversity Coordinator. She has created valuable links between SCC and the community through her volunteer projects with organizations such as the Chrysalis Shelter and the Mayor's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities.
Moe is an adjunct instructor at SCC in the Communication and Performing Arts division, and was nominated by a student for her mentoring, teaching, and dedication to the Theatre Arts program. She is credited with teaching and mentoring students who have gone on to participate in award-winning performances regionally and nationally.
“Elaine and Dee exemplify the outstanding caliber of the faculty and staff at SCC who truly make a difference for our students each and every day,” said Art DeCabooter, Scottsdale Community College president. “I am very proud of them.”
