Scottsdale, AZ (November 2, 2009) – Get global at Scottsdale Community College’s International Education Week – November 16 – 20, 2009 at the SCC Campus, 9000 E. Chaparral Rd., Scottsdale. Come enjoy special speakers, films, photo displays, workshops and more. The events are free and open to the public.
International Education week is a nationally-recognized week put forth by the U.S. Departments of Education and State and is celebrated by colleges all across the country. SCC’s International Education Program will host several events on campus during the week for students, faculty, staff and community members.

Movie: "Beverly Hills Chihuahua: A Tale of Two Cultures"

A pampered Beverly Hills Chihuahua named Chloe finds herself accidentally lost in Mexico. Alone for the first time in life, she must rely on some unexpected new friends to lend her a paw and help her to find her way back home. Her journey leads her to a discovery of her roots. Join us after the film for discussion of various themes that appear in the movie, such as stereotyping, class relations, the search for identity, and travel abroad.

This documentary captures the experiences of six Americans of Japanese ancestry who were confined as innocent children to internment camps by the U.S. government during World War II. The film vividly portrays their personal journey to heal the deep wounds they suffered from this experience.
