Photographing the Human Form --

Exhibition & Reception at TruRes Studios on May 11

~ Scottsdale Community College advanced photography students to exhibit work ~

Scottsdale, AZ (March 18, 2008) - Photographing the Human Form is a popular photography workshop offered at Scottsdale Community College.  Instructors Roger Palmenberg and Greg Hunter lead a class of up to twelve advanced amateur and professional photographers as they produce fine art nude photography.

The workshop is an extension of other photography classes offered at SCC, including Portrait Photography, Fashion Photography, Commercial Photography, Large Format PhPhoto by Kirsty Semaanotography, and Alternative Process Printing.  Lighting, composition, posing, as well as advanced darkroom and alternative process printing are covered.  Professional models challenge the participants to produce their best work.

"Participants study the work of Edward Weston, Ruth Bernard, Sally Mann, Helmut Newton and others," said Roger Palmenberg, workshop instructor.  "Dramatic lighting with simple sets challenge the participants to produce images that are more sensual for what is not shown than what is."

The exhibition for Photographing the Human Form is open to the public and will take place on Sunday, May 11 from 6:00 - 11:00 p.m. at TruRes Studios, located at 15 East Jackson Street, one block west and one block south of the US Airways arena (one block west of Cooperstown).

All photographers and models will attend the exhibition.  Each photographer will showcase five selected images from his/her final portfolio.  The images will be available for purchase.

TruRes Studios, the exhibition host, is owned and operated by Scott Farence, a Phoenix-based commercial photographer.  Farence has been a long-time supporter of the SCC photography programs, generously donating time and space to provide a direct connection between the classroom/studio environment and the business of commercial photography.

"Networking within the community is an important feature of the photography programs at SCC," said Palmenberg.  "Scott has been a popular and highly motivated participant in this outreach program."
