Scottsdale Community College Professor Shares the Way to Green Design in our Homes
~ Professional Designer Marcia Gonzales of SCC to Address American Association of University Women’s Scottsdale General Meeting ~
Scottsdale, AZ (October 12, 2009) – On October 17, Marcia Gonzales, ASID, will discuss how to choose green interior products and finishes for our homes. Ms. Gonzales will show examples of different interior materials and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of various products for flooring, walls, furniture, and finishes. She will also discuss LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design: What it is and why should consumers know how it impacts us?
The meeting will be both informative and light, and there will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.
Ms. Gonzales graduated with a Masters of Science Degree in Design Theory, Methodology, and Criticism from ASU in 1996. She also has a B.S. in Vocational Education from University of Arizona and an AS degree in Interior Design from Scottsdale Community College (SCC). She has practiced as a residential designer in Scottsdale and the Valley since 1984, consulting with contractors and homeowners to work as a team approach.
A member of AAUW, Gonzales is currently a full time faculty member at Scottsdale Community College where she teaches Interior Materials and Kitchen & Bath Studio classes. She is also a professional member of American Society of Interior Designers and is the student group advisor at SCC. She advises the Emerging Young Builders Club on campus, which is a branch of the United States Green Building Council.
