Faculty at SCC are focused on teaching and learning. The average ratio of faculty to students in the classroom is 1 to 20. The undergraduate experience at large universities can put the teacher to student classroom ratio as high as 1 to 500, and the instructor is often a graduate student. Additionally, faculty at SCC are highly qualified, and must meet academic achievement levels in their field as well as experience standards. While some 23% of SCC's faculty have earned doctoral degrees, 71% of faculty in academic areas have earned a masters degree and all occupational faculty must meet strict educational and professional experience standards.
