Scottsdale Community College Names New Vice President for Academic Affairs
Scottsdale, AZ (August 14, 2007) ? Scottsdale Community College today announced that Dr. Daniel P. Corr, Ed.D. has been named as Vice President for Academic Affairs. His assignment becomes effective September 10.
As the new VP for Academic Affairs, Dr. Corr will provide SCC with educational leadership as he collaborates with college faculty and staff to assess existing program offerings and develop new programs to benefit the students. ?I?m looking forward to working alongside my colleagues at SCC, knowing that what we do will impact people?s lives,? said Dr. Corr.
Dr. Corr comes to SCC from Illinois where he served for the past eleven years in academic leadership positions, most recently as Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs at William Rainey Harper College in Palatine, Illinois. Prior to that, Corr served as Dean of Academic Enrichment and Language Studies at Harper. Prior to his service at Harper, Corr spent over six years in academic leadership positions at community colleges in Illinois.
?Dr. Corr comes to us with a wealth of experience at three community colleges in Illinois,? said Arthur DeCabooter, Scottsdale Community College President. ?He will truly be an asset to our college and especially to the students we serve.?
Corr originally ?caught the education bug? - as he puts it - right out of college when he took a job overseas to teach English-as-a-Second Language to students in Tokyo. From there, he knew education was his life?s calling. Through the years as an educator and administrator in the community college setting, he focused his efforts on continuing education, developmental education, adult education, and career programs, while supervising and mentoring faculty, serving in campus and community leadership positions, and implementing innovative academic offerings.
Dr. Corr has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies, a Master of Arts degree in Higher Education Administration, and a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership.
?I was so impressed with the SCC faculty and staff during my visit to Arizona,? said Corr. ?I?m looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and doing my part to continue the growth of this great college.?
