Scottsdale Community College Business Institute Responds to Valley?s Business Growth
Scottsdale, AZ (June 1, 2007) ? The Scottsdale Community College Business Institute has found its niche serving the Valley?s growing business community through education and training opportunities for working adults. Located in the North Scottsdale Airpark, the SCC Business Institute has experienced impressive growth since opening its doors in January 2006. Program Advisor Jessica Morris credits its growth to the Valley?s business climate and unique program offerings.
?The SCC Business Institute is located in one of the Valley?s most concentrated business centers,? said Morris. ?Hundreds of people who work in this area are ideal candidates for the practical, project-based business programs we offer.?
The SCC Business Institute, which is part of the Maricopa Community College system, caters to working adult students by offering accelerated 2 to 8-week classes and flexible delivery options. According to Morris, the Institute?s 5-week online classes have been a big hit with busy working adults. Online classes provide the flexibility that their day-to-day life demands. The Institute?s students find that due to full time jobs and other obligations, they do not have the option of attending classes three days a week during the middle of the day.
The Business Institute has options for these working adults and offers many online classes--with a low tuition rate of $65 per credit hour. In addition to the online or on-campus format, classes are offered multiple times during an academic semester, including the summer.
The Institute's ?Fastrack? programs culminate in a Certificate in Business or Small Business Management. A two-year Associate of Applied Science degree is also an option, as are short-term computer training classes. This unique approach serves students who have demanding travel schedules, as well as stay-at-home parents who are preparing to re-enter the workforce, and those who live outside of the traditional service area of the bricks-and-mortar college.
?We have seen big increases in enrollment in the year and half we have been here, explains Morris. ?It is very exciting to be a part of something that is really taking off.?
