Construction on Chaparral Road east of campus (see Oct. 13 update below) is now expected to continue through Nov. 17.

The construction on Chaparral Road closest to the SCC campus has been completed.
Approaching campus from the West (Scottsdale):
The 101 freeway off ramps are now open. Chaparral Road is open in both directions, and visitors to campus no longer need to take the detour route.
Approaching campus from the East (SRPMIC):
Construction on Chaparral Road now moves east of campus. If you normally access the SCC campus by heading westbound on Chaparral between Dobson Road and the campus, this portion of Chaparral Road will be closed in both directions. The intersection of Chaparral and Dobson Roads will also be closed. Motorists are advised to take Indian School Road westbound and head north on the 101 freeway, exiting at Chaparral Road. This is expected to take place now through Oct. 27.
Plan for delays and give yourself extra time to ensure that you arrive on campus at your designated time. Please show respect for the Salt River Pima – Maricopa Indian Community and follow all posted speed limits and traffic signs/signals.
UPDATE: SEPT. 28, 2023
The construction on Chaparral Road has been progressing on schedule and will enter the next phase of completion shortly.
Starting Monday, October 9:
- When heading northbound on the 101 freeway, the Chaparral Road exit and off-ramp are expected to be open.
- When heading southbound on the 101 freeway and taking the Chaparral Road off-ramp, motorists are expected to be able to turn left onto Chaparral Road.
- All eastbound and westbound lanes on Chaparral Road are expected to return to normal traffic flow between the 101 freeway and campus.
New Road Closure: October 9 - 27:
Construction on Chaparral Road now moves east of campus. If you normally access the SCC campus by heading westbound on Chaparral between Dobson Road and the campus, this portion of Chaparral Road will be closed in both directions. The intersection of Chaparral and Dobson Roads will also be closed. Motorists are advised to take Indian School Road westbound and head north on the 101 freeway, exiting at Chaparral Road.
UPDATE: AUG. 18, 2023
The exits to Chaparral Road coming off the Loop 101 freeway to campus are closed – use the detour below when visiting SCC.
Follow all posted speed limits and traffic signs.
- Heading north on the 101: the off-ramp exit to Chaparral Road will be closed.
- Heading south on the 101: the off-ramp exit to Chaparral Road will be open; however, traffic will not be allowed to turn left onto Chaparral Road (heading toward the SCC campus).
- The on-ramps from Chaparral Road to the 101 will be open.
Recommended Detour: When coming off the Loop 101 freeway, use the Indian School Road exit. Head east on Indian School and turn north (left) onto Dobson Road. As you are heading north on Dobson, turn west (left) onto Chaparral Road. Take Chaparral until you arrive at SCC and turn right to enter the east side of campus.
Although the freeway exits to campus are closed, Chaparral Road may be partially open during construction but will have intermittent and lengthy delays in getting to campus from the west. Therefore, the alternative route above is recommended for now. The detour will be required through October.
