SCC Honors 2022 Graduating Students

Approximately 210 Scottsdale Community College students participated in the 2022 Commencement ceremony on May 13, 2022, with family, friends, and loved ones in attendance at ASU Gammage Auditorium.

For the 2021-2022 academic year, SCC awarded 647 associate degrees and 405 certificates of completion. A total of 621 graduates participated in the virtual event.

“Graduation is an important celebratory milestone for our students, given the substantial amount of hard work and sacrifice they’ve invested into their studies and themselves,” said SCC Interim President Veronica Hipolito. “They deserve our respect and admiration for their significant achievement today.”

The ceremony included presentations by President Hipolito; Dr. Eddie Lamperez, SCC’s Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs; Martin Harvier, the Honorable President of the Salt River Pima - Maricopa Indian Community; graduating students Justin Kaiser and Christopher Manuel, and more.

SCC Commencement – May 13, 2022

The formal 2022 Commencement proceedings will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at ASU Gammage Auditorium, in Tempe, to recognize all graduating students. The event will be live-streamed so that all family, friends, and loved ones will have the opportunity to attend. SCC is also inviting graduates from recent years to participate in this in-person event after disruptions from the past two years.

Important information for all attendees:

  • Parking: The Gammage Auditorium parking lot is free to all, on a first-come first-served basis. Additional free parking is available in nearby ASU marked spaces on the street. Overflow parking is available in the Apache Blvd. Parking structure for a fee. Additional parking information.
  • Wear comfortable and practical shoes. Please be aware that attendees may encounter steep ramps and stairs.
  • Face coverings are optional inside the auditorium.
  • Graduates are to arrive with cap & gown and a cell phone (if desired) only. No other purses, backpacks or bags will be allowed inside.
  • A clear bag policy is in effect for graduates and guests for all events on the ASU campus. Learn more about the ASU Clear Bag Policy
  • Guests, please leave balloons and flowers in your vehicle, as these items will not be allowed in the auditorium.

Artie’s Grad Bash – May 5, 2022

To celebrate our first in-person graduation since 2019, SCC hosted a pre-commencement party to honor our graduates. Students celebrated with fellow graduates, mingled with SCC faculty, and lined up to take pictures with mascot Artie the Artichoke.
