Media Center Equipment Checkout:
This procedure includes Audio/Visual and Computer-related equipment that is checked out through the SCC Media Center. Equipment can be checked out by board approved employees for various activities promoting MCCCD. Personal use of equipment is prohibited and it is the employee's financial responsibility to cover any loss or damage. See the Governing Board Policy on Equipment Checkout for specific guidelines, including limitations, insurance, and authorization.
Equipment available through the Media Center for checkout includes laptops, digital cameras, camcorders, data projectors and other audio/visual related items.
Checkout Procedure:
Requesters must call the SCC Media Center (480-423-6652) at least 24-hours in advance to reserve equipment. Be prepared to submit what type of equipment is needed, the duration of the checkout, and any special circumstances surrounding the request, such as software, hardware, peripherals, cables, and network/internet access, etc.
The Media Center will check on the availability of the requested equipment and notify the requester of the outcome. Media would like to encourage 24-hour notification when possible to ensure equipment is tested and the proper signatures can be obtained. Less than 24-hour notice cannot be guaranteed; however, every attempt will be made to satisfy all requests.
If the equipment is available, an Media Staff member will prepare the equipment for checkout. The Media Staff member will make sure the requested equipment is in working order and will fill out the appropriate portions of the Equipment Checkout form.
The requester will then be notified by either the Media Staff Member or the SCC Media Center that the Equipment Checkout form is ready for pickup and completion in the Media Center. Additional signatures are necessary as outlined below:
- If the checkout period is < 7 days, the requester and the Media Staff member sign off on the form.
- If the checkout period is > 7 days, the requester, the Media Staff member, the Dept/Div chair and the Dean of Information Technology Services must sign off on the form
When the form is appropriately completed, the requester is given the equipment along with the pink copy of the Equipment Checkout form. Refer to the Governing Board Policy on Equipment Checkout regarding usage, insurance, and loan agreement information. This is also printed on the back of the form.
After the checkout period, the requester must return the equipment back to the SCC Media Center. The requester and an Media Staff Member (evaluating the returned equipment) must sign the equipment return receipt portion of the pink copy upon return of the equipment.
