About Instuctional Technology

The Association for Educational Communications and Technology AECT defines Instructional Technology as "the theory and practice of design, development, utilization, management and evaluation of processes and resources for learning." At the heart of instructional technology lays the systematic design of instructional materials. While many instructional design models exist, the Dick and Carey model continues to be one of the most versatile and easily adopted systems.

At SCC, the IT staff are happy to provide assistance in all facets of Instructional Technology through our many service areas, including Network Management, Web Development, the Open Computer Lab, Training Services, Computer Operations, the HelpDesk the Media Center, and the Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology. To learn more about Instructional Technology or Instructional Design please continue to browse the website or call the department at (480) 423-6311.
