In the Business Institute website, red text is typically a link which will
lead to additional material. Pass your cursor over red text on this page to see links.
All navigation links can be found at the left
and top of each page in the Business Institute website.
Each course website has additional headings "Overview Links" and “Course
Links.” These navigational links include all instructions for successfully
completing the course. When starting a new class, please take a few moments to review the
content of each link before beginning the course assignments. Contact
your instructor if you have any questions or concerns. |
Assignments |
CONTENT
- These assignments give you
the opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of concepts and terminology from your reading.
- In many instances you will be applying these ideas to real-world situations.
- Your answers should be brief, specific,
concrete, and concise.
- You should provide a factual basis for answers, not simply opinion.
- Review Policy
on Writing Standards and Plagiarism
FORMATTING
- Assignments must be prepared using only
MS Office software only [Word, PowerPoint, Excel]. If you do
not have this software on your computer, use MySCC [See button to the left] to access the MS Office software.
- Grades are based in part, on correctly following
all posted instructions for format.
SENDING ASSIGNMENTS
- Send all assignments as attachments to email. Students are
responsible for making sure ALL required assignments are attached
and sent to the CORRECT email address prior to deadline.
- Failure to “attach” assignments or sending the
wrong assignments or sending assignments to the wrong address
will not give you additional time to submit. Students should
copy themselves on all emails with assignments attached.
- Students are advised to stay online after sending assignments
to make sure no “delivery failure” is received.
- Instructor will send a “received” email when assignments
are successfully downloaded. Follow up with instructor if no “receipt” email
is received within 24 hours.
- Instructors have multiple classes, sections, and students. Put
your last name, class number and Week number in the SUBJECT
line of each email [XXX101, JONES, Week 1].
- Complete and send each week’s assignments before moving
on to the next. Wait to receive feedback from your instructor
on Week One assignments before sending Week Two. Assignments
for Week Five are due by noon on the end date to be accepted.
|
| Due Dates |
Students
have a maximum number of weeks to complete the class.
First assignments
will be due within 7 days of the start date. Review due date chart. Students do not receive
reminders from instructor.
Assignments are due Mondays
by noon. 'Late' assignments are accepted until noon on
Tuesday. Late assignments will lose one full grade beyond
what the assignment would have received if on time. This
means, if your assignment would have received a 'B' on Monday,
it will receive a 'C' on Tuesday.
Due dates will not be adjusted for
failure to:
- quickly identify and resolve technical difficulties
[on the student side],
- have the proper textbook on start date.
- review check for emails from instructor [daily]
or Help Desk on a timely basis
- utilize only ONE email address for all communication
during the duration of the class.
Each
course has multiple assignments posted. Students must contact
instructor via email to receive their individual assignments
before beginning Week One. Only assigned work will be accepted.
Review Writing Standards and
Plagiarism policy. |
Textbooks |
| The correct textbook is necessary to complete assignments. All
students need to have the textbook on the start date. Use
either the SCC
Online Bookstore or online vendors but allow sufficient
time for delivery. Due date extensions are not granted.

Grading |
All on-time
assignments will be graded and returned with comments and edits
by Wednesday. Receipt of all homework is acknowledged via return
email. Your instructor will use a rubric similar to this one to score
your assignments. They will also provide feedback for improving
future submissions.

Tuesday. Late assignments will lose one full grade beyond
what the assignment would have received if on time. This
means, if your assignment would have received a 'B' on Monday,
it will receive a 'C' on Tuesday.
On the class end date, all assignments are due by noon. Assignments received after noon will not be accepted.

NOTE:
Your grade is not a commodity; it has not been purchased with
tuition. You have every right to be graded fairly, but you do
not have a right to any specific grade. Your grade isn't a reflection
of you as a person. Your grade isn’t a measurement of effort.
Your grade IS an evaluation of performance. This means that your
final grade in this course is dependent upon how well you demonstrate
comprehension and application of the subject matter through the
timely completion of the items listed in this module and the
course syllabus
