If you are interested in coming for the Spring Semester (January to May), we must receive the application and required documents before November 1.

If you are interested in coming for the Fall Semester (August to December), we must receive the application and required documents before July 1.

(Opportunities to start classes during the summer are also available. Just ask us!)

Please send:

  1. A COMPLETED INTERNATIONAL STUDENT APPLICATION (Adobe Acrobat version; PDF)
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT APPLICATION (MS Word version)

  2. PROOF OF GRADUATION FROM SECONDARY SCHOOL
Certified copies of official diploma or certificate from each secondary school (high school), college or university, and/or technical school you have attended (translated into English). Spanish language documents do not need to be translated.

  3. EVIDENCE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY:
(waived for students whose native language is English)
    1. Admission to Academic Programs
Applicants who wish to enroll in an academic program at the college must present evidence of English language proficiency.

      - If the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is used to satisfy this requirement, the applicant must attain a score of at least 500 (on the traditional TOEFL) or 173 (on the computer based test).

      - If the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is used to satisfy this requirement, an IELTS overall Band Score of 5.5 or better is required, and a minimum IELTS individual Band Score of 5.0 in EACH module is recommended.

      - If the STEP Eiken test (for Japanese students) is used to satisfy this requirement, a Pre-1 level or better is required.

The dean or director of admission and records of the college may accept other proof of English language proficiency for admission purposes, such as the Scottsdale Community College's ASSET test, COMPASS or CELSA tests.

Please note: Regardless of TOEFL, IELTS, or STEP Eiken scores, all new students are required to take placements tests upon arrival at Scottsdale Community College.

    2. Admission to the Intensive English Program
Although TOEFL is recommended, it is not required for admission to the English as a Second Language program.

Students admitted to the Intensive English Program (English as a Second Language program) will not be allowed to enroll in courses outside those officially designated as part of the program unless and until they have met all of the prerequisites or other course requirements, including appropriate scores on placement tests.

  4. EVIDENCE OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Have your sponsor complete the Statement of Financial Support, which states that they have at least $17,400.00 U.S. dollars per year, and are willing to use this money to pay for your academic and living expenses while you are attending Scottsdale Community College.

IMPORTANT: The sponsor MUST also include an ORIGINAL bank statement or ORIGINAL letter from the bank showing that the sponsor has sufficient funds on deposit. Faxes, photocopies and internet printouts will not be accepted. Evidence of financial support will be required prior for issuance of the I-20 form.

The college has no scholarship or financial aid provisions for international students; therefore, students must be fully prepared to meet the necessary financial obligations for the entire time they will be in the United States.

The college estimates the student's average costs for 10 months
