Dave believes in the words of Plato, "You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation." He and his wife Susan and their four children live in Scottsdale. Dave commutes to campus each day on his bicycle.

Currently, Dave is a faculty member at Scottsdale Community College and serves as Program Director for the Recreation Management Program. He is also the advisor to the Outdoor Adventure Club. Previous to SCC, Dave was Director of Campus Recreation and an Outdoor Education Instructor at Salisbury University in Maryland. Dave has a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Recreation Management and Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Maryland, College Park. Dave is certified in: Gerontology, Wilderness Medical Associates Advanced First Aid, American Red Cross Canoe/Kayaking & Sailing, and is a Leave No Trace Master Teacher.

Josh Parafinik M.A. has a Masters of Art in Adventure Education and Recreation and has been facilitating experiential learning programs for the last 13 years. His main areas of professional training and expertise include adventure-based counseling, corporate adventure programs, wilderness trips, outdoor classes, professional facilitator development, and utilization of adventure activities to stimulate personal growth and team development. He is currently the Director of One Day Adventures, which provides Arizona residents of all ages with a variety of experiential learning programs, teambuilding workshops, outdoor classes, adventure trips, and family programs.
