Welcome to HPERD

Welcome to the Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Division!  Our offices are located in both the P. E./Gym Building and the Fitness and Wellness Center on the north side of the SCC campus.

Our Division offers a variety of programs to students for the purpose of increasing physical fitness and wellness as well as attaining the education required to fulfill a certificate or degree in a specific area.  Each area has a program director or advisor that will meet with you to aid in choosing the class or classes to suit your needs.  Our philosophy is that health, fitness and well being are dynamic and our division is committed to help each student succeed in improving their quality of life and providing the resources to acquire those skills needed in the areas of fitness, nutrition, recreation, and dance.

Our state of the art facilities and small classes provide an environment conducive to meeting the students needs.  Our hope is that you will take part in our classes and/or programs and learn or improve on skills and fitness level in the activity course and increase your knowledge in the lecture classes as well.

We offer certificates and 2 year degrees to prepare you for the workforce in the following areas:  Recreation Management, Yoga Teacher Preparation, Dance Technology, and Strength, Personal Training and Nutrition.  In addition, there are numerous activity classes offered to increase physical fitness and to learn new skills.  Our Fitness and Wellness Center provides the backdrop for quality instruction and interaction with our faculty.

Again, welcome to SCC's HPERD Division and we hope to see you in one of our many classes----
