AH&LEF offers two types of scholarships:

If you are enrolled in a U.S. undergrad or graduate hospitality degree program such as hotel/restaurant management, culinary arts, travel/tourism, or hotel administration, you're probably a candidate for an AH&LEF academic scholarship.

Last year, the Foundation distributed more than $475,000 in scholarship and outreach educational programs to more than 350 students and hospitality professionals.  At 91 schools across the country, the Foundation awarded academic scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000.  We evaluate applicants on a range of criteria beyond GPA and financial need, so we encourage everyone to apply─ the 2008 application deadline for all programs is May 1.  AH&LEF will begin to accept applications for the 2009 academic year starting January 1, 2009.  To read more about the application process for the nearly dozen different academic scholarships we offer click on the site listed above.

Professional Development
Perfect for individuals currently working at a hotel property who want to advance their career by growing their industry knowledge or skill set, AH&LEF’s professional development scholarships provide assistance for distance learning courses and professional certification. If you are a hotel employee currently enrolled in either of these programs through the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute, then you eligible to apply for a scholarship.

Application deadlines are quarterly: January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1.  For more information on professional development scholarships, visit the site listed above.

The Nina Scholars Program.

This scholarship was created by the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust in 2001

in tribute to the life and values of Nina Mason Pulliam.

Who Can Apply?

Available to individuals meeting at least one of the following criteria:

• Be working toward their first college degree
• Be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Arizona
• Have a family income no higher than 80% (approx. $41,250) of the median income for Maricopa County
• Have no more than 24 college-level, degree-applicable credits
