Other estimates: Living expenses $7368; Books $1004; Transportation $2262

The Financial Aid office is here to help you identify federal, state, institutional and private funding sources in the form of loans, grants, scholarships and employment.  We are committed to helping you and making sure you receive your aid in a timely and efficient manner.

Should I apply for Financial Aid?
All degree-seeking students who meet the eligibility criteria should file a FAFSA even if not sure aid is needed.  The form is good for the entire school year.

How do I apply for Financial Aid?
You must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  You can complete your FAFSA on-line at www.scottsdalecc.edu/financial (click FAFSA).  On-line processing time for the FAFSA application is approximately 2-4 weeks.  If you choose to mail the FAFSA, processing time takes about 4-8 weeks.

How does SCC know I have applied for financial aid?
Scottsdale Community College's Federal School Code is 008304. By listing our school code on the FAFSA form SCC will receive your information electronically from the federal processor.

What happens once I file my FAFSA form?
After the FAFSA form has been filed, you will be mailed a Student Aid Report (SAR) which indicates your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and your Federal Pell Grant Eligibility. If you file electronically you will be notified via e-mail.

What happens when SCC receives my SAR?
Once SCC receives your financial aid data from FAFSA, you may be required to provide the financial aid office with additional information (i.e. tax returns, W-2 forms, etc). When the required forms have been submitted, your application will be reviewed and eligibility will be determined. An award letter will be sent detailing the amount and types of aid offered.

If I am not eligible for the Federal Pell Grant, what other types of Financial Aid is available?
The FAFSA is used to determine your eligibility for federal grants, state grants, work study and loans. If you are not eligible for the Federal Pell Grant you may be eligible for Federal Work Study. You may also have the option to apply for a Federal Stafford Loan (which you must pay back).

How do I apply for Federal Work-Study?
You must complete the FAFSA form.  A student's eligibility for Federal Work Study will be determined by the Financial Aid Office.  Information regarding work study is available on-line at www: scottsdalecc.edu/financial

How do I apply for a Federal Stafford loan?
You must complete a FAFSA form. You must be enrolled for a minimum of six credits in order to get a loan.  You should indicate on the FAFSA if you are interested in student loans and if you are eligible you will be processed for a loan.  Instructions for completing the Promissory Note will be included with the Award letter.

How do I find out about scholarships?
Scholarship information may be obtained from the SCC financial aid web site.

Do I have to attend my classes to get Financial Aid?
Yes. Failure to attend class will result in the reduction or loss of financial aid.

Do I have to make an appointment to see a Financial Aid Advisor?
No.  Advisors are available during normal office hours.

The Financial Aid Office is located in the Student Center, Room SC152.
Our office hours are Monday through Thursday 8:00am to 7:00pm and Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.
