SCC Music Theory Program

The SCC Music Theory Program offers a two-semester introductory sequence and a four-semester main sequence of music theory and aural perception classes. Students who cannot read music or have very little music background, are encouraged to complete Introduction to Music Theory (MTC 101) and Introduction to Aural Perception (MTC 103) prior to enrolling in Music Theory I (MTC 105) and Aural Perception I (MTC 106). If you aren’t certain about which class is right for you, contact Dr. Christina Novak at 480-423-6327, prior to registering. Placement tests are administered to all students on the first day of class in MTC 101 and MTC 105.
