Janet Norman
Janet Norman, a native of Cleveland, Ohio,
is currently a candidate for the Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at
ASU. Mrs. Norman received her Bachelor of Music degree from Baldwin-Wallace
College in Berea, OH and her Master of Music degrees from Arizona State
University and Bowling Green State University. Her performances include
solo recitals in Italy, New York, Ohio, and Arizona, and she has worked
as accompanist and teacher for various institutions, including Xavier
College Prep Girls’ School, Glendale Community College, Baldwin-Wallace
College, Bowling Green State University, and the Cleveland Music School
Settlement. Awards for solo performance include third place in the Klatzkin
Piano Competition for her performance of George Crumb’s Gnomic
Variations, first place in the inaugural 1999 ASU Contemporary Music
Society Competition for Performers, two-time winner of the Three Arts
Club of Lakewood, OH Scholarship in 1987 and 1988, and the 1986 Baldwin-Wallace
College/Conservatory Concerto Competition. She is a nationally certified
member of and active participant in MTNA (Music Teacher’s National
Association) and currently teaches class piano at GCC and at SCC and
gives private piano instruction.
