I am a member of the Kickapoo Nation of Kansas, and I am also known by
my traditional American Indian name of Sinnagwin, with which I sign my
artwork. I received my B.A. Degree from Graceland University, Lamoni,
Iowa and my M.F.A. from the American University in Washington, D.C. I
started selling my artwork by the time I was in Junior High School and
have shown my work throughout the United States and now have my work in
several public places, CD covers, posters and collections. My work can
be found in the Prophets Town Museum, Minnietrista Cultural Center, Los
Dos Molinos Restaurant, and Arizona Community Foundation, to name a few.
I have been a guest lecturer, presenter, and artist in residence in several
places throughout the U.S. I have been involved with American Indian Education
for the most part of my past twenty years throughout the U.S.
I started in the American Indian Programs at SCC in 1996 as a Program
Advisor and then moved to the position of Interim Director of American
Indian Programs in fall 2000. In the fall of 2001 I moved into the SCC
Art Department as a One-Year-Only through the Faculty In Pilot Progress
program. I was hired as a new Residential Art Faculty in the fall of 2002
at SCC where I now reside. One of the things I love the most is teaching
in the classroom and helping other students achieve their dreams.
