2007 – 2008 Scholarships

INSTRUCTIONS

Please follow the steps below when completing
your scholarship application.

 

Step 1    

Read the description of the scholarship to be sure you meet all requirements. check your top three scholarship choices on the scholarship application. Applicant will only receive one scholarship award from scholarships listed on the application.   
Step 2 Type the application. Complete every line on the application. If information is not available or not applicable, type N/A.
Step 3 Your personal statement is very important. Be specific about your educational/career goals and plans for the future. Describe activities you participate in or volunteer in. your personal statement should help the Scholarship Committee get to know you better and understand what makes you a qualified applicant.
Step 4 Proofread your scholarship application, sign and date the form.
Step 5 Attach an unofficial college transcript(s). Entering freshmen should attach a High School transcript.
Step 6
Submit all materials to the SCC Financial Aid Office
by 5:00pm, August 31, 2007.   

NOTE: Students applying for any of the below scholarships must meet the minimum criteria as indicated and be a U.S. Citizen or Resident Alien.

SCC General Scholarship

Amount: $1000 ($500 each semester)
Minimum enrollment: 6 credit hours per semester
Minimum GPA: 2.5

Entering freshman who have not attended college must have a minimum high school GPA of 2.5. 

SCC scholarships funded through the SCC General Scholarship may include one of the following:
 

    Barker Family Scholarship
    
Herbert and Alice Drinkwater Scholarship
    
Robert Edwards Scholarship
    
John E Messer Scholarship
    
Rotary Foundation Scholarship
    
Student to Student Scholarship
    
Chris Horn Scholarship


Conrad Bensyl Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be an Education Major.

Amount:$1000 ($500 each semester)
Minimum enrollment: 6 credit hours per semester
Minimum GPA: 2.5


Sandra Desjardins Scholarship

Students majoring in any Humanities Discipline:  Languages, English, Literature, Creative Writing, or Journalism.

Amount: $1000 ($500 each semester)
Minimum enrollment: 6 credit hours per semester
Minimum GPA: 2.5


Faculty Association Scholarship

Applicants awarded based on evidence of community accomplishments (i.e. awards, recognition, etc.)  Students may receive a Faculty Association Scholarship only once.

Amount:  $500 ($250 each semester)
Minimum enrollment: 6 credit hours per semester
Minimum GPA: 3.5


Robert Mugford Scholarship

Students majoring in any Humanities Discipline including: Languages, English, Literature, Creative Writing, or Journalism.

Amount: $1000 ($500 each semester)
Minimum enrollment: 6 credit hours per semester
Minimum GPA: 2.5


SCC Charros Scholarship

Students who have participated in athletics in high school or college and graduated from a Scottsdale High School.

Amount:  $1000 ($500 each semester)
Minimum enrollment: 6 credit hours per semester
Minimum GPA: 2.5


Scottsdale Sunrise Rotary Scholarship

Preference given to re-entry students taking classes to upgrade job skills.  Scottsdale resident preferred.  Attach a statement of financial need to application.

Amount: $2080 ($1040 each semester)
Minimum enrollment: 12 credit hours a semester
Minimum GPA: 2.5


Departmental Scholarship

Many departments have scholarships and fee waivers.  Contact individual departments for information.


Nursing Scholarship

Students enrolled in the Nursing Program may check with the Nursing Department for information on additional scholarships


Submit scholarship application and all
materials to the SCC Financial Aid Office
by 5:00pm,
August 31, 2007.
