Helping Hands for Single Moms
The mission of Helping Hands for Single Moms is to empower single mothers to independently provide for their families. The organization accomplishes this by assisting them in attaining a college education, affordable housing, and financial literacy. While enrolled in college, each single mom family receives a combination of financial aid, money management and life skills training, and an abundance of care from a mentor.
Helping Hands began in 2001 as a pilot project with 1 single mom family. After developing a solid program and recruiting a strong board, we grew and currently serve 19 families. At this time, the Helping Hands program is only available to single moms within the greater Phoenix metropolitan area.
The Helping Hands scholarship is an unrestricted, renewable, one year amount of $3,060. There are other benefits that go with the program (see below website for additional information about the program). The student must be: a single mom with at least one child under the age of 11, enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits per semester, maintaining a minimum 2.5 GPA, a US citizen, and not living with a domestic partner.
If you are attending SCC and apply for this scholarship please write ?Scottsdale Community College? at the top of the application you submit.
